- Another bluetooth device is interfering with your trackpad.
- Or, you still have another mouse connected using USB or bluetooth.
This confuses your mac and results to without any connection.
- What you can do is if you have more than one mac, you put the other mac far enough without interfering with the other mac. Or, disconnect the other mouse attached to your mac.
- Restart your mac, and turn on your trackpad.

The hard drive itself costs under 100
I don't want to pay over 300 for just labor.
