How To Fix Magic Mouse Or Magic Trackpad Not Connecting To Mac

You might encounter that your magic trackpad is not connecting sometimes to your mac at boot or on your desktop. There are some reasons:

  • Another bluetooth device is interfering with your trackpad.
  • Or, you still have another mouse connected using USB or bluetooth.

This confuses your mac and results to without any connection.

  • What you can do is if you have more than one mac, you put the other mac far enough without interfering with the other mac. Or, disconnect the other mouse attached to your mac.
  • Restart your mac, and turn on your trackpad.

If it still doesn't connect, check out this knowledge base in Apple's website for trouble-shooting: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048.

How To Play A VCD In Mac OSX Lion

In Lion, there is no support for playing VCDs out-of-the-box. But, there are applications which you can use to view these like VLC and MPlayer OSX Extended.

VLC is nice, but having stuttering problems when playing VCDs. The other best option is Mplayer OSX Extended.

  • Download and install from this website: http://www.mplayerosx.ch/#downloads, from Google Code.
  • Also, install the Mplayer Binary Codec Package.
  • To run Mplayer, go to Applications->Mplayer OSX Extended.
Mplayer OSX Extended Icon
  • Then, File->Add to Playlist and under Devices, choose CD->MPEGAV folder, which has some .DAT files on it. Choose the last file (when it's the first VCD).
  • Then, Window->Show/Hide Playlist, and click the Play button.
  • When it is playing, you may want to put it to fullscreen: Movie->Fullscreen and change Aspect Ratio to Zoom to Fill or Stretch To Fill.
That's it. Enjoy!

How To Fix Mac Overheating Problem

There is a simple solution to overheating problems with your mac, and that is don't run a screensaver. It may be funny, but the simple reason is that mac's screensaver runs using the graphics video card and this causes your mac to heat, but not overheating. From researching on Apple forums, they say that it is normal and will not cause any damage to your computer. But, if you are concerned, this is the simplest solution:

  • Go to System Preferences->Desktop & Screen Saver->put the slider to never start screen saver.
  • If you want to lock your screen, just click Hot Corners->Put Display to Sleep.

Note: When playing video games, this also requires using your mac's graphics video card, so that explains it.
